The aim of Sujata Banerjee Dance Company is to promote and develop South Asian Dance and the related art forms. The company strongly believes that the performing arts skills are one of the most valuable tools in life as it helps the participants to develop self-esteem, healthy body and intelligent mind. In this mission, the Company is dedicated in delivering high quality work creating excellence; encouraging young people to participate in arts activities.

Sujata Banerjee, the artistic director of the, is one of the most dynamic and skilled Kathak dancers of UK today. Her expertise in the subject and charismatic personality makes this ancient dance look most captivating to all audience.
Sujata Banerjee is one of the leading Kathak dancers of Britain today. She has been successfully teaching, performing and developing Kathak in this country for over 2 decades. Sujata performs regularly in prestigious venues like; Kalamandir in Kolkata, India; Queen Elizabeth Hall in London, England; Carnegie Hall in New York, USA -most recently House of Commons and also St Georges Chapel, Windsor Castle in England
Sujata also teaches in USA and other parts of the world regularly. Sujata is trained in the Lucknow style of Kathak, initially by Ruby Banerjee and then continued with Pundit Vijai Shankar while taking occasional master classes with Pundit Birju Maharaj. Her expertise in the style and charismatic personality has been described by the critics as:

Sujata believes that dance is not only an art form but a demanding physical activity that requires its participants to reach a sustained level of demanding physical strength; Sujata has trained as a Sports Scientist and implements the concept science into her teaching and is one of the pioneers of this concept in the UK.
